Apex Programming

Apex ProgrammingFrom language fundamentals to SOQL, DML, triggers, async processing, testing, integrations, events, security and enterprise design patterns.

Apex Language Fundamentals: A thorough tour of Apex, the strongly typed, Java-like language that runs inside the multi-tenant Salesforce platform: types and their quirks, sObjects, collections, OOP, exceptions, modern operators, dynamic Apex and the standard namespaces.

SOQL and SOSL in Depth: Master Salesforce's two query languages: relationship queries, semi-joins, aggregates, polymorphic TYPEOF, user-mode security, dynamic queries with binds, query selectivity and the Query Plan tool, and full-text search with SOSL.

DML, Transactions and Data Integrity: Write data safely from Apex: DML statements vs Database methods, partial success and error handling, upserts with external IDs, merge and undelete, transaction boundaries and savepoints, mixed DML, record locking and user-mode DML.

Apex Triggers: Write bulk-safe, maintainable triggers: events and context variables, before vs after logic, field-level errors, correct recursion control, a minimal handler framework with metadata and permission-based bypass, standard-object quirks, and how triggers coexist with Flow.

Asynchronous Apex: Move work out of the user's transaction with @future, Queueable (chaining, Finalizers, AsyncOptions), Batch Apex, Schedulable and Apex cursors — and learn to monitor, limit, test and design async jobs that are idempotent and retry-safe.

Testing Apex: Write tests that prove behaviour, not just coverage: test data factories, @TestSetup, Test.startTest/stopTest, the Assert class, runAs and permission-based tests, callout and search mocks, async and event tests, StubProvider-based unit tests, and running tests from the CLI.

Callouts and Apex Web Services: Call external REST and SOAP services safely with Named Credentials, handle JSON like a pro, respect callout limits and transaction rules, and expose your own Apex REST and SOAP APIs.

Platform Events and Change Data Capture: Build event-driven solutions on Salesforce: define and publish Platform Events, subscribe with Apex, Flow, LWC and external clients, stream record changes with Change Data Capture, and operate it all within allocations.

Secure Apex: Write Apex that respects the platform's security model: sharing keywords, user mode database operations, FLS and CRUD enforcement, injection and XSS prevention, secrets handling, guest-user and @AuraEnabled hardening, and automated scanning with Salesforce Code Analyzer.

Invocable Apex: Bridging Code, Flow and Agents: Design @InvocableMethod actions that admins can use in Flow, that Agentforce agents and Prompt Builder can call, and that stay bulk-safe, well-described and testable — plus how to call flows from Apex.

Apex Design Patterns and Enterprise Architecture: Structure large Apex code bases with separation of concerns: Service, Domain, Selector and Unit of Work layers, dependency injection, classic GoF patterns adapted to governor limits, metadata-driven triggers, logging, configuration, feature flags and modular packaging.

Debugging, Profiling and Performance: Find bugs and bottlenecks in Apex with debug logs, trace flags, the Developer Console, Apex Replay Debugger and the CLI, then make code faster and leaner: CPU and heap optimization, SOQL selectivity, Platform Cache, ApexGuru and production monitoring.
