New to Salesforce Development

New to Salesforce DevelopmentUnderstand how the platform thinks before you write code: org model, data, security, automation, then your first Apex and LWC.For: Developers coming from other stacks

Platform Architecture, Orgs and Releases: How Salesforce's multi-tenant, metadata-driven platform actually works, the kinds of orgs you'll build in, how editions, licenses and the three-releases-a-year cadence affect your code, and where Apex, Flow, LWC and the APIs fit.

The Salesforce Data Model: Objects, fields, relationships and naming conventions in depth: every field type and its gotchas, lookup vs master-detail, junctions, polymorphic fields, Big Objects, External Objects, Custom Metadata vs Custom Settings, field history, describe calls and data skew.

Declarative Customization: A developer's guide to the point-and-click layer: formulas, validation rules, layouts, Lightning App Builder, Dynamic Forms and Actions, apps, list views, paths, custom permissions, actions, duplicate management, approvals, reports, and where declarative limits push you to code.

Security and the Sharing Model: The complete Salesforce security model, layer by layer: authentication, profiles, permission sets and groups, object and field permissions, org-wide defaults, role hierarchy, sharing rules, teams, territories, implicit and Apex managed sharing, restriction and scoping rules, debugging access, and Shield.

Flow Automation for Developers: A developer's guide to Salesforce Flow: every flow type, how the runtime bulkifies interviews, $Record and entry conditions, fault handling, Apex interop in both directions, LWC screen components, testing and debugging, and how to make flows and triggers coexist on the same object.

Order of Execution and Governor Limits: What happens, step by step, when a record is saved, and the multi-tenant governor limits that every trigger, flow and API call must respect. Covers recursion, transaction boundaries, the Limits class, CPU-time pitfalls and how to monitor org-wide allocations.

Developer Tooling: SF CLI, VS Code and Orgs: The modern Salesforce developer toolchain end to end: the sf CLI and its plugins, org authorization, DX project structure, scratch orgs, shapes and snapshots, source tracking, manifests, data commands, the VS Code extensions, Agentforce Vibes and MCP, Code Analyzer v5 and Prettier, with a full walkthrough from empty folder to deployed change.

Apex Language Fundamentals: A thorough tour of Apex, the strongly typed, Java-like language that runs inside the multi-tenant Salesforce platform: types and their quirks, sObjects, collections, OOP, exceptions, modern operators, dynamic Apex and the standard namespaces.

SOQL and SOSL in Depth: Master Salesforce's two query languages: relationship queries, semi-joins, aggregates, polymorphic TYPEOF, user-mode security, dynamic queries with binds, query selectivity and the Query Plan tool, and full-text search with SOSL.

DML, Transactions and Data Integrity: Write data safely from Apex: DML statements vs Database methods, partial success and error handling, upserts with external IDs, merge and undelete, transaction boundaries and savepoints, mixed DML, record locking and user-mode DML.

Apex Triggers: Write bulk-safe, maintainable triggers: events and context variables, before vs after logic, field-level errors, correct recursion control, a minimal handler framework with metadata and permission-based bypass, standard-object quirks, and how triggers coexist with Flow.

Testing Apex: Write tests that prove behaviour, not just coverage: test data factories, @TestSetup, Test.startTest/stopTest, the Assert class, runAs and permission-based tests, callout and search mocks, async and event tests, StubProvider-based unit tests, and running tests from the CLI.

LWC Fundamentals: Learn the Web Components standards Lightning Web Components are built on, how a component bundle is structured, how templates, reactivity, decorators and lifecycle hooks work, and how to configure and ship your first real component.

Working with Salesforce Data in LWC: Read and write Salesforce data from Lightning Web Components the right way: Lightning Data Service and its cache, base record forms, UI API wire adapters, the lightning/graphql module with mutations, Apex via @wire and imperative calls, refresh strategies, error handling and how to choose between them.

The Sales Cloud Data Model: A developer's map of Sales Cloud: leads, accounts, contacts, person accounts, opportunities, products and price books, campaigns, quotes, contracts, orders, assets and the activity model, with the special behaviours that trip up code.

The Service Cloud Data Model: A guided tour of the objects behind Service Cloud: Case and its children, email, case teams, entitlements, service contracts, assets, Knowledge, Messaging, Voice and Omni-Channel work records, with the licensing that unlocks them and the SOQL you will write against them every day.
